I found the eBay listings by 'advantageautopartsltd'.  £33.99 with free next day delivery for a new 3rd party front caliper.

I'm sure that will be fine, they do say they include copper washers but mine didn't,  fortunately I had already sourced a few elsewhere.

You need 2 copper crush washers per caliper, one either side of the 'banjo' fitting (Flexi/ caliper interface)

The banjo fittings on the hoses, you can either fit new washers, or reuse the old washers after annealing them.

Here's how it goes together.

hmm, would you expect Pagid/Mintex to include the washers with their remanufactured calipers?

Seems to be lots of posts lately regarding stuck calipers, can I assume it's another victim of the Covid19 pandemic due to many cars being either laid-up or a dramatic decrease in use?

Usually, they don't come with washers.

10mm banjo washers seem to come in different outer diameter sizes and thickness?

Auto dr calipers are much cheaper. I just ordered a rear left for £38. They have a huge range of calippers for a huge price range. I just bought the cheapest as ivwas advised onvhere it doesn't matter the brand

My local independent charged me £70 for replacing 1 front & 2 rear calipers, no way at my age was I going to go out in the wet & cold to save that!

I presume parts were extra?
Did you buy your own calipers for the indy to fit?

I just looked on Eurocarparts.  A Pagid caliper is £88.06 inc VAT.

I presume if I DIY, can I get away with just bleeding the one brake where I had just replaced the caliper?

Heat the old copper washers up on the cooker then let them cool.

Ordered banjo washers off ebay.  See how long these take to arrive by 1st class mail.

Went for Carparts4less remanufactured caliper by Pagid for next day delivery.  Price is £57.36 (RRP £131) and incurs a surcharge of £29.94 in the basket.

But checkout and subsequent order confirmation email only shows I am only being charged £27.42 (£29.88   £29.94 less) and £29.94 respectively, before applying 17% discount code??  Pricing glitch?

Earlier, I asked them how to send old caliper back to have the surcharge refunded.  They said to contact them to arrange collection (I presume they pay postage), and warehouse will inspect caliper before deciding whether to refund the surcharge back to original payment method.....

Update - Thu 28 Jan -  Ordered 3 times.  Each time order status stuck on 'Received'.  Phoned to discover payment had failed.  Tried 2 different credit cards and PayPal.   Looks like pricing glitch is causing payments to fail.

They won't accept seized pistons.

Actually, it's £29.94 less, i.e. the surcharge -

£27.42 + £29.94 = £57.36

Still sounds like a cock up, unless the £57.36 is supposed to include the surcharge.

Works fine on a gas hob, just heat the washers up until they change colour to cherry red, then leave to cool or quench in a cup of water to remove any scale. Quenching would normally harden most metals, but it doesn't affect copper.

Solid copper washers don't crush like aluminium ones, so you can often reuse them before they get too thin.
