Fuel gauge
« on: March 27, 2019, 07:03:29 AM »
I have noticed that I can put my car away of an evening, with a little fuel showing on the gauge, but then the next morning it is registering empty. On Sunday, as I put car in the garage I looked at the fuel gauge and thought "I will probably have enough fuel for 3 or 4 days daily commute". On Monday morning it was showing empty, and within a quarter of a mile the warning light came on (always on a left hand bend).
Has anyone else noticed this with their Mk 1.

I always notice the last bit goes quicker than expected. One minute it's nearly empty and then the orange light comes on!

Fill up asap and find roughly 7 litres left, which is what Honda say in the manual.

I certainly goes quicker as the tank empties, but it is the fact it goes from something to nothing, overnight, with the car not being driven. It must be hysteresis in the gauge, or something.
