I have driven both the GD and GE and although the GD is very good I am really pleased with my 2009 ES, no car is perfect but the Jazz comes very close. There was nothing else on the market that came close to the Jazz when I was looking for a new car in 2009. I am sure you will be pleased with your 2009 ES.

Don't hesitate.  You will have a car with 4 years of improvements in it.  Apart from obvious cosmetic changes, there will be improvements aimed at enhancing reliabilty.

Those replies have made me feel a lot better about it,thanks.
One thing I have concerns about is the performance,my Jazz sport is quite nippy, how will the Es perform
do you think,I haven't driven it yet.

I would imagine the performance would be similar.
The GE may be heavier than the older GD, but the newer model produces a little more power.

Still prefer the styling and interior of the GD - it's a classic, ground-breaking design,  the GE just doesn't do it for me,  wish I could get a 2012 GD.

Be interesting if you could make a note of the changes you notice after driving it for a month.  I am always intrigued how a similar model evolves

I have only had a Golf III and a Golf V and these were like 2 completely different cars.  Even the engines sounded different

The older GD looks to me like a box, but I much prefer the GE. I wouldn't consider owning a GD, but obviously now own a GE . . . and no regrets.

Ex Rover 25/45 unused spacesaver wheels with tyres are available via e-bay for £15 plus delivery, and they are suitable for the Jazz ES if you want low cost peace-of mind.

IMHO - The GE front end looks like a car that's just sucked a lemon,  the GD has a 'smiley' grill,  and the  headlights are a nicer shape, and it just looks smoother and wider from the front than the GE - but lets face it, they are both a 'box' that's why there is so much room inside.

nothing wrong with being a box, it's perfectly shaped box
I just love GD's design, can't say the same about GE..
IMHO Honda Jazz GD has the best design among all japan designed cars :)

It's funny to observe differences in ppl's tastes
I keep seeing unspeakably ugly stillborn failures of car industry like nissan juke, fiat multipla, etc
and still some folks find it nice and even pay to drive it :)
