As a general point, I would much prefer alloy wheels than cheap plastic covers, if that is what they are.

No... that's what they are NOT. They are expensive plastic covers on alloy wheels...

Those trims are one of the negatives about this car. In my opinion they are fugly and achieve nothing. Why hide mag-alloy wheels beneath stupid and expensive-to-replace plastic kerb catchers? I'd rather have plain steel wheels without trims.

Interesting that the Crosstar not only does not have the plastic trims but has altogether more attractive wheels.

I'm completely used to those "fans", I don't think they are (f)ugly at all, but "exclusive".
Who else drives around with beautiful alloy wheels with expensive plastic "fan" caps? Some Teslas here and there? ;D

And for Neil: it won't cost too much to replace your mag-alloy wheels (with stupid and expensive plastic curb catchers) with plain steel rims... You could of course also only remove the plastic kerb catchers...

Well they give the impression of being cheap.  I would prefer good looking alloys, but each to his own.

I think the design is more about the ventilating and cooling of brake components.

My brakes need a wire wool attachment to the callipers, to stop the discs from rusting,...not vent and cooling!

Just up to 2,500 miles now, mainly B mode, and showing 74.3 MPG, but dropping slowly as the cold weather sets in. Back in Spring, I removed the nearside trims to avoid kerb damage, as I read on here that they cost
£120 each to replace, but they looked grim,.... so I put them back!

What a wonderfully competent car, that we are only discussing wheel trims! (No offence meant).

Hello,
I had never noticed it before, and now I certainly can't say that it pleases me,
at least they had modified the plastic wheel cover by replacing the ones in circulation (obviously this also has a cost, but even I paid to have a car in order and not with forgetfulness),
I would just be curious to know if anyone has already pointed this out to Honda.
Maybe they didn't even notice it (even if I don't think so)

(Sorry for the mistakes I used Google Translate)

...and now take a good look at the wheels of your Jazz... My suggestion is first on the right, then the left.

How can they look the same on both sides if they are not symmetrical? Just like the plastic curb catchers?

..Sorry, I meant I took the trims off because I think the car looks better without them  8)

Staring at the wheels has given me a headache, they look identical to me  :-\

If any of mine get damaged I'll do the same.

I don't mind them at the moment because they are easier to clean. Quicker than attacking silver alloys with those mini bog brushes.
Let's be careful out there !

After further research I noticed the same inconsistency on most cars.

It’s probably safe to assume that when a car has asymmetrical alloy wheels you cannot expect them to be rotation specific unless the car in question is VERY expensive (Tesla model 3, for example).

The same can be said of replacement wheels on online shops.

I guess most owners do not even notice or just don’t care.

The Jazz, in B mode, doesn't need any additional brake cooling because I only use them to come to a complete stop.
Let's be careful out there !

Tyres, particularly winter and all seasons, can be rotation specific, maybe also  aero hub caps, but I've never heard of rotation specific alloy wheels, but possible I suppose on  high end cars  ,at vast expense if they need replacement.
Having just one version of a particular style saves having to maintain stock  of both left and right,   and having the correct stock level for each country, as demand for replacement kerb damaged right hand caps will be higher in countries that drive on the right, and vice versa.   :-\

I expect Honda Japan  have been informed of the anomaly ,but dont care.  I expect they have also been told   that the Windmill fan design (and the frontal 'nose' design') have lost them sales in Europe, but seem determined to stick to Japanese tastes.  Neither was deal breaker for me   but I think my car looks better with its  'winter' wheels, which are after market  "Rial Milano Titanium.
