Hi All

I started a thread 6 weeks ago after my Jazz went into limp mode.

After a long diagnosis process I sent my ecu to www.ecutesting.com which some of you will have experience with.

I'm now having to return it to them for a 3rd time as different cylinder faults have shown up after re-builds.

I've been given good advice both here and from my trusted garage but am surprised at so many failures.

I usually can only speak to phone handlers at ecutesting but once managed to speak to a technician who acknowledged their culpability and said that the R&D team would look into it.

Any advice or your experience appreciated, thanks, joe

That sounds like a very frustrating situation, sorry to hear it.

I've only needed to use them once, to rebuild a Skoda Octavia ABS module. VAG cars had them going all the time several years ago and refused to recall in typical VAG group fashion. ECU testing were about 1/3rd of the price of Skoda. Speedy, reliable and efficient they were too, hence I was very happy to recommend them.

I have a friend who is a mechanic, and he uses ECU testing all the time. They are more reliable than BBA reman from his experience.

I think I would be asking to scale this up to management level at ecu testing. They really should get this sorted asap or give you a full refund imho.

Hard luck with your rebuilds, I would put your concerns in writing post recorded delivery to the MD asking for a review of your case.

Thanks West36 and OldUser,

My concern is that when the ecu returns it has a sticker attached saying 'We suspect the fault has been caused by an external issue'...

I spoke to a helpful technician at ecutesting who said that it's standard practice to put that disclaimer on the parts.
The diagnostics (3 garages so far) don't find injector problems (the most likely culprit) as the fault codes point at different issues at different times.

I accept that the diagnostics may be fallible but have been chasing this issue for over 6 weeks now.

Your comments welcome- a problem shared is 1/2 a problem!? thanks, joe

Hi Joe,

I think I would be now looking in my area for a proper specialist auto electrician. Someone that knows car electrics in detail, a more specific knowledge than a general garage.

Couple of thoughts. Has the battery been checked, eg known to be good? Earth strap clean and good? Have you explored the used ecu route or does it need to be coded to the car?

You've been very unlucky with your car to be fair. Owning a Jazz is usualy a painless experience.

Hi Westy

Thanks, the battery is new. My local mechanic agrees with you about finding a specialist.
Of course driving it risks limp mode again so I might need it towing...

best wishes, joe

As they say, it's a disclaimer, but in this case it is a known issue. The injector solenoids slowly fail and usually the first you know about it is ecu damage.

Normal garage diagnostics will not pick this up. You need a specialist that is used to diagnosing electrical faults on fuel injection.

Hi All

I picked up my car yesterday. The new injector was £240 + vat, the labour was also £240 +vat,

all in all a long and expensive process, joe

Glad you got it sorted. Money you could have done with not spending.
