It attacked me!!
« on: January 15, 2022, 09:20:16 PM »
Text of note sent to Honda Support;

"Today I was lifting shopping from the boot of my Jazz Crosstar (VIN JHM.....).
In doing so my forehead struck the parcel shelf which was in its normal raised position.
This meant contact with the very edge of the parcel shelf.
This was surprisingly uncomfortable and lightly scraped my forehead.
This was surprising to say the least, but examination of the edge of the parcel shelf showed it to be quite firm and sharp/rough.
I think this feature requires to be looked at and redesigned.

I'll be unloading a boot full later this morning. I'll see how close I get to that edge.

As for putting on a wooly hat to unload the boot ......... seriously ?!!!!!
Let's be careful out there !

He must have known something!

Told them I have engaged lawyer to sue Honda & dealer for millions, maybe I'll settle for the woolly bunnet!

I put some Pipe Lagging Insulation Foam on my MKIII.  Worked a treat.

I am going to get one of those hats - not because of the boot lid thing but because I like the look of them. ;D

I wish we still had tonneau covers as in the earlier MK 1 /2 models . Shelves feel so cheap!!!

I'm the opposite. The 10G Civic has a floppy pseudo roller blind, left to right and it looked horrible as it sagged in the middle with time.
Let's be careful out there !

It's the curse of the Crosstar again and that extra 3cm height! If you had bought a regular Jazz, it would have given you a bash on the nose instead!  ;)

I don't think so, but they said that in case it fits, you can exchange it for a t-shirt...

Mine doesn't fit at all (I don't see anything when wearing it) so I kept it.
By the way, my wife says I look much better with my Honda hat on.  :P

I had this problem with my Mk 2 HR-V and used some of this type of protector https://www.amazon.co.uk/DIANAS-COLLECTIONS-Oven-Shelf-Protectors/dp/B08TV6M29S/ along the shelf edge. So far, I haven't been attacked by my Crosstar, possibly because the boot depth is much less so minimal need to lean into the boot.

If you put an additional edge doesn't it adversely squash up tightly against the closed tailgate.

I agree that civic one is awful, I have a tonneau cover on our CRV hybrid and that’s more to the standard of rigidity of the older Jazzes……instant “recoil” quicker than messing about with a parcel shelf for bigger loads and gives easier access…….plus you don’t bang your head on it!!
