I-Shift Problem again
« on: September 22, 2020, 07:18:47 PM »
Not again my I-Shift is having a problem after 2 and half year (20k miles) since actuator was repaired. The reverse gear was bring selected and then stuck . All the yellow gearbox lights came on. #*@#!

I will contact the mechanic again but was wondering, if there's a small chance that the sensor in the brake pedal is broken? The car wouldn't start and gear is stuck?

Also, since the car has done 104000 miles, do you think it's wise to change the clutch before sorting out the actuator? Can this be done if the gear is stuck in R?

Thank you!

There is an iShift expert over on Civinfo.

He's been operating/helping owners out for a long time and has very good reviews.

Worth viewing his thread and contacting him:

I don't know how many parts have already been replaced but based on the mileage and age it may be reaching a point where all the parts are failing together due to age - decision to plough money in or cut losses and swap for a newer / different car?

No experience of the iShift at all, but other automated manuals rely on the correct functioning of the actuators in order to reset the biting point on a new clutch. I would say hold off with the clutch, especially if it was functioning before the failure.

I think you will probably need some proper diagnostics.

My mechanic came over and changed the clutch. Took about 3.5 hrs. Try to program the gearbox but wouldn't work.

Got it towed to Daniel automobilklub at Northampton and he did it in a day, replacing the actuator and reprogram the clutch. Drove it for 50 miles and seems good. Fingers crossed.

Why was the clutch replaced again, they can't be cheap?

The clutch is worn so had to be replaced. It's the 1st clutch. (£230 incl gearbox oil) It had to be reprogrammed (not replaced) after the new actuator was changed.

Daniel has been working on iShifts over on Civinfo for many years. He's an expert and has never had a bad response..

You can go to him or, for a cost, he will come to you.

Has anyone had any recent contact from Daniel ?

He's not been on the Civic forum since January.

Thanks

We've heard from Daniel last week on Civinfo and he's temporarily out of action. He will update us when he's back in business.
