Title: CVT fluid - any alternative to Honda?
Post by: woody03 on May 17, 2022, 05:40:38 PM
My car is Honda Jazz HX-T IMA CVT hybrid. That is a mark 2 Jazz registered in 2012, and has done about 60000 miles without a problem. I intend to change the fluid. I did a manual gearbox oil change on a mark 1 Jazz and used non-Honda oil with success.
Is there an alternative fluid to the Honda CVT fluid?
I know the correct Honda product is called Honda CVT-F or CVT-Fluid. I read on this forum that products called ATF-Z1 or ATF-DW1 are not suitable.
What about Granville CVT Fluid? See https://granvilleoil.com/prodInfo?pID=581
The description on the container label refers to 'Honda: HMMF & HVF-2'. What does that mean?

Personally I'd stick to the Honda oils. CVT can potentially be sensitive to oil.
Try https://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/ and you can contact them or enter your VIN when ordering to ensure the correct spec.

Definitely agree with embee! You only change it once or twice in a life of the car so might as well just use original for piece of mind

Hi, I use the German Fuchs oil in my GP1 CVT. It is available in Namibia but check availability in your country.

I bought the oil from cox. Job was a doddle with a long funnel. Don’t even have to jack the car up, just put on full lock.
