New reports suggest that Honda may use the HR-V name for the Vezel crossover SUV when it reaches UK and US shores within the next 12 months.
The HR-V was a small SUV sold between 1999 and 2006, originally marketed in the UK as 'The Joy Machine'. Initially the HR-V was offered as a three door with a five door model following later on. The resurrection of the HR-V moniker mimics Honda's move in 2001 when the Jazz name - perviously used on a small sub-Civic car sold in the mid 1980s - was dug up for the Honda Fit in some countries, including here in the UK.
Honda is yet to confirm the name it will use for the Vezel outside Japan but HR-V looks a strong possibility, especially if Honda still own the trademark to the name. The use of the HR-V name fits in with the CR-V and it goes without saying that Honda would wish to create some link between the Vezel and the popular larger SUV.
