I also have the same issue, although mine has never actually stalled. But I am sure that it is related to the judder which I also get around 10 to 15 mph each time I take off from a standing start.
Mine is a 2004 SE model with 81,000 miles on the clock. I have changed the fluid, replacing it with the F type, which made no difference at all. I bought the car 1000 miles ago, knowing it had the judder, but I thought that after all these years there would be an upgrade kit available or lots of knowledge around to repair / replace the parts causing it.
8 years ago I bought an old Volvo with problems which were well documented on the forums, along with instructions and often videos on how to fix them; I am surprised and rather disappointed.
Has anyone on here stripped and repaired a CVT? Has anyone had a garage successfully repair one, and can recommend them? I see so many about that I can't believe that they aren't fixable. There are YouTube videos of people in the far East stripping them down without any special tools, and there are lots of used ones advertised, so one could rebuild a used one and then just swap the two.
Someone must have a procedure for this.
