Rear drivers side lower than rest of the car.
« on: April 25, 2016, 08:21:28 PM »
Hey Guys,

So I recently purchased a Honda Jazz 2008 1.2 with 51k miles. And after about 600miles driven in it I noticed that the car didn't look straight although this may have been the case since I bought it and I hadn't noticed.

Anyway, on closer inspection I noticed the drivers rear wheel well had a lot less space compared to the one on the other side (I'm in Portugal so I guess if you're in the UK it's rear passengers side  ;)). The difference from the tire to the bottom of the wheel well ranges between 3-5cm difference. Anyway as I was in a hotel very far away from home I had to drive it which I did and didn't notice any difference however when I stopped about a mile down the road it looked like both sides looked equal...

But then now again it has the same problem so not sure what it could be?

I tried pushing the car down on both rear sides and both seemed to respond the same, I've literally had no passengers in the back so couldn't be some fat person. Wheels are all brand new and correctly inflated.

Any help would be great thanks!

That's uncanny as exactly the same has happened to my MK2.
When I was taking my car in for a possible part exchange the salesman noticed that the drivers side. right, rear suspension was sitting low.
Its going in to be checked Friday  so will update you when I have more info

I have found a possible answer from another forum.
This is that when the handbrake is on it can pull the suspension down on one side.
As mine is a CVT I will just put it in park and see what difference it makes

Let's hope it's that. I'll give it a go next time I'm in the garage.

If it was a broken coil spring then surely it wouldn't bounce back up to normal sometimes?
