Wheel nuts
« on: September 02, 2012, 04:28:31 PM »
Hello all.
I drive a 2003 Honda jazz SE with steelies. Last week I was given a set of jazz SE alloys from the facelift model 2005.

I'm sure they will fit although not tried it yet but will I need new wheel nuts or will he originals from the steelies work?

Thanks for your help

Cheers Carl

Originals should be just fine.

I would get a set locking wheel nuts though.

What has replaced locking wheel nuts in this country are keyed nuts which need an adaptor attached to the wheel spanner to undo the nut.  Unfortunately, you have to keep this adaptor close to the wheel spanner but it is small and you can conceal it in another place.

I'm not sure I bother with locking wheel nuts - my "key" socket shattered when undoing a very tight nut. Luckily I was removing my winter steel wheels so was able to angle-grind flats onto it. But that wouldn't be possible with the alloys as the nuts are recessed deep in the wheels.
My alloys are a bit rough though, no one's going to nick them.

From memory the Honda price for a set of 4 locking nuts and socket was about £45 and I think that included the VAT.
