Stronger Springs that will fit?
« on: May 05, 2021, 05:13:07 PM »
Anyone know if there are stronger springs from a different car that will fit the Honda Jazz? I am interested in raising NOT lowering mine and intend using it to carry bags of sand and cement etc. Maybe springs from another Honda model will fit? Maybe some springs from a small van or a 4X4. Of course I could fit the spring assist rubber spacer rings in but how much better would stronger springs be.

Years ago I put extended bump stops on a car that I used for towing, improved the rear end sway no end, also helped with the heavier loads.
If it was me, I'd go spring assists and extended bump stops, a lot cheaper a so much easier to do.

Let's call that the default option... if I can't find the springs I want. Back in 75 I used to ferquent a pub oppsite a vehicle spring making factory. A guy we called big John would pop over for a liquid lunch then go back to what we all assumed was rolling giant lengths of steel and bending bars over his knee. Someone somewhere lives in a place where springs line up in size order rather than part numbers and models.

I should think spring makers still exist. There was one on the Mini Moke episode of Wheeler Dealers. Might actually be the easier than trying to get dimensions for an off the shelf set. Particularly if you get to speak to someone who really knows their stuff and can work out the spec you need.

Or is it? What do you think?

I've had springs from https://dfaulknersprings.com/
They are very helpful and probably worth a call.

Make more trips with fewer bags or ask a friend with larger vehicle.

I carry several cwt at a time in my MK1 with no issues. I just make sure the heavy stuff is ahead or above the rear axle.

They offered to make some custom springs for about £100 each with a 7 week timescale. So I am still looking.
