Thanks, this tutorial is very useful.
I've tried and it works with Android 10, yesterday i've upgraded to v11 so i need to double check but expect nothing but going flawless as before ;-)

After reading the manual I was not impressed that you can't connect a phone via USB to have Android Auto - and - play music from a USB stick.

Wireless AA will solve this.

Thanks
Let's be careful out there !

Little update for flawless start of wireless AA.
When you start you car your phone wifi and bluetooth should be disabled, after the infotainment start enter setting to start AA, select your phone, press green button then immediately start Bluetooth and wifi in your phone, and AA will start without problems.
As i found at least with my phone when wifi and bluetooth enabled when infotainment starts the phone get connection with bluetooth and wifi itself, and if this happens AA unable to start as wifi already connected.

I'm not sure I'm ready to execute that sequence every time.

Maybe that only i have to do connection this way  ;D, i not have access to all android phones, i have only LG v40 thinQ.

If someone  others can get connection to AA without this sequence  that good.

I was thinking that.

Shame as I'd ideally like to play a USB stick and have Android Auto.

I have a phone speed camera app that uses bluetooth to play alerts through the car system and performs a pseudo phone call so playing music over BT might upset that.

Having AA Wireless work is very hit-and-miss for me at the moment, and that's with a Google Nexus 3a phone.

Sometimes it activates when I've got the phone in my pocket, sometimes it needs manual intervention to wake up the phone, sometimes it never works and I have to plug in to USB.

I cant be bothered with all that set up for wireless - AA works fine and reliably for me when connected via usb, and its no major inconvenience in my view

I am right in thinking that you can't play a USB music stick and have a phone plugged in for AA though ?

It might be possible with a USB hub, but I've never tried it.

I only really wanted AA to display Garmin Navigation with traffic given that the stock headunit doesn't have traffic.

I saw an interior picture yesterday that shows the airbag A pillar is at the rear of the dash so as a last resort I may put a Garmin disc on the dash, just forward of the dash top air vent and attach my DS61 to that.

Sorry
If someone else fails to connect the wireless android auto  second time after connecting the phone, I apologize for having possibly misled those who tried to connect but could not, I was connecting from the wrong side
For those who have Android version 10, you need to install Android Auto for phone screen, in the Android Auto settings, find the switch to start bluetooth when starting Android Auto, for those who have Android version 9 and below, do the same in the Android Auto application.before turning on the car, Wi-Fi and bluetooth on the phone must be turned off, after turning on the car,  you just need to open the Android Auto application and that's it.
When AA starts it enabling Bluetooth and then when needed by AA turning on WiFi.

I now have a handle on the Android Auto wireless problems. If your phone can connect to an existing WiFi access point that it knows about, Android Auto wireless will fail to connect. If it's not connected to any other WiFi, it works.
