Replaced rear discs & pads.
« on: June 07, 2017, 04:46:26 PM »
Feeling pleased with myself today. I've just replaced the rear discs & pads on my 2012 Jazz ES.   :)

It took me three and a half hours, which included lots of time cleaning up the calipers and hubs etc.

Parts used were:  2       Brembo brake discs.              £51.12    including VAT & carriage  CarParts4less.
                           2prs. Brembo brake pads.               £19.22          "         "          "        CarParts4less.
                           1       Pagid brake pad fitting kit.       £5.12          "         "          "        CarParts4less.
                           1       Brake piston wind back tool.  £16.97          "         "          "        Machine Mart.

All parts fitted without any problems.

Brake pads are abrasive, and gloves should be worn when handling them.  ;D

There is a certain satisfaction about doing things yourself not to mention the savings

Hi, I attempted to change rear pads on our 2012 jazz on the weekend but couldn't get the calliper to move sufficiently to get the old pads out. Attached by a brake hose and the handbrake cable and as I didn't have a bleed kit I focussed on removing handbrake cable but without success. Any suggestions welcome please.

This guide might help with the parking brake cable issue.

Did you have insufficient length to free the cable? I took out 2 bolts that hold the cable mounting to the bracket and that just gave me enough free room then to unclip the cable. There is also a horseshoe clip which can slide out that also helps as well. Mines a 2013 Mk 2

I used the Guide posted by TG when I changed rear pads last year. Just enough length once the cable holding bolts were undone..
