Honda Earth Dreams - new green engine technology
« on: January 17, 2012, 12:21:35 PM »
Last year's Tokyo show announced the introduction of a new generation of Honda's engine technologies under the Earth Dreams name.

Earth Dreams is new range of green engine tech similar to Mazda's Skyactiv. The new engines include direct injection and variable cam phasing. The VTEC system is redesigned to effectively run on the Atkinson cycle to save fuel. However, Earth Dreams does not include regenerative braking, auto stop-start or turbocharged petrol technology offered by many of Honda's rivals.

The tech will be rolled out in various forms across Honda's engine range, including petrol, diesel and hybrid models. The first engine to benefit from Earth Dream technology will be the new 1.6-litre diesel engine destined for the latest Civic in later this year.
