MKII Spare Wheel yay or nay?
« on: August 01, 2022, 03:40:23 PM »
I've been wondering since I bought my MkII Jazz last October whether or not to buy a spare wheel. Do most Jazz owners buy one or do without?

Yay in my opinion. It'll get you out of trouble, and I would say it's a good idea to carry one. Much better idea that a can of goo/puncture repair stuff.

My Jazz came with a space saver, which I've since upgraded to a full size spare. Space savers come with a speed limit (50mph?), which is why I went full size.

Thanks Westy, think I'll invest in one for peace of mind if nothing else

Have also been thinking about getting a spare but funds don't currently run to the price of a correctly sized one (my car is fitted with 16 inch alloys).

Not a fan of the can of goo kits and I have heard that tyre shops are not keen on cleaning up a tyre to to repair a small puncture and push you to buy a new tyre.

My previous car (Volvo estate) which I had for around ten years was fitted with alloys and came with a non-matching size tyre on a full size steel wheel which I never needed to use.

Looking back over 60 odd years of motoring I can only think of  hand-full of times where I have had a puncture where a full size spare would have been useful.
