Exhaust Shield
« on: April 03, 2022, 05:48:38 PM »
Noticed a slight rattle from under the car on start-up, found the mid exhaust shield rear mounting broken. I have removed it for now & I guess it can be repaired but am I correct in thinking it will be OK without it?

I have used Jubilee clips ( worm drive hose clamps ) in the past to re-attach loose shields and brackets to exhausts - never had a problem after...   You can get a piece of something like 2mm thick steel ( B&Q and most other DIY stores sell 1 metre strips of various thickness and width ) and make a rectangular washer to clamp the broken bit, may have to put a washer on both sides if needed.

I'll have to ask Robert to pop round & repair it!

Thanks for the replies, the second part of my question was - is it OK to use the car without it until I get it repaired?

Ours has been running without it for over 5 years now.
