Judder moving off and gear shift delay
« on: April 01, 2022, 04:54:05 PM »
My honda jazz currently reaching 75k miles. About two or three months ago. I started to note a lag in moving off. I needed to give a lot of fuel until car moves forward. It jumps forward but after that car drives fine. 2nd to 3rd gear sometimes take time to shift and cause a loud reving noise.

So I flushed the transmission fluid at Swindon honda. They did a double flushed. This made problem 50/60% better. Now when the car heats up problem goes away . I can notice the judder in the morning when I am pulling off from cold . Should I try xado ex120 for CVT gear box treatment?

Has anyone tried this?  Failing this I need to replace the starter clutch kit
Car information -1.3L L4 SOHC 8V FWD HP83 and 61KW
Where can I get this done ? Honda said this would cost £1000-1200
I don't want to spend that much on a old high mileage car
Any other cheap garage in Swindon , Oxford Surrey, or Hertfordshire?
Any other locations do let me know as well. Thank you

Can't guarantee results, but from my own personal experience, the Xado stuff is brilliant.

We have a 130k 2006 Jazz which had quite a bad judder which improved a bit after an oil flush/change.

The Xado EX120 has pretty much banished the judder.

We also have a 54k 2004 Jazz that only had a bit of a judder when warmed up & pulling away hard. Put the EX120 in that & it's smooth as silk.

No idea how the stuff does such a fantastic job, but it's well worth the (small amount of) money.

I second the opinion on Xado EX-120, coupled with a double flush & refill about 20 months ago it totally cured my CVT judder. I will have another CVT change and an additional Xado 'shot' in the Summer.

Just to note I had a quote of approx. £500 for a new starter clutch in 2020 from an Independent Honda specialist.

Yeah I have done 120 miles after adding the Xado 120.  Judder has gone. Move off smoothly. Now and then on a round about pulling away hard get a bit of loud revving before the CVT gear box change the gear to higher one. Rare, so 80-90% problem is gone away. Maybe I need another shot of Xado 120. I will see how's the car after  500 miles and report back.

btw @UKjim where is this Honda dealer quoted you £500 for new starter clutch? Thanks

It was an Independent Honda specialist not a dealer and they are in North Wales. Remember trhe quote was  plus VAT and almost 2 years ago.
