Reverse gear engagement warning BEEP!
« on: January 01, 2022, 02:52:28 PM »
Hi all

First post here as we are new owners. It's a 2011 Jazz I-VTEC EX with just 12,000 miles on the clock

For some reason, Honda made the reverse gear warning beep so loud, it makes my sphincter tighten every time I engage reverse gear. :-\

Is there any wsy to adjust the volume or easily disable it.

Thanks in advance

Sorry, cannot really help. My BEEP! is not loud at all so I looked through the handbook but could not find anything about adjusting the volume.

Perhaps someone who knows will eventually see this and be able to advise, otherwise it will mean contacting a main dealer (who will probably want you to visit with your bank manager!).

I've had several Jazz's and none of them made a Beeping noise when reverse was engaged.

My Mk 1 certainly doesn't.

Perhaps it's something to do with parking sensors?

I had the same issue on a 8G Civic.

The dealer fitted third party sensors and even though the beeper was intended to be boot mounted, so designed loud, they fitted it under the dash so was very loud.

Let's be careful out there !

My parking sensors are physical sensors. They are called bumpers. When they come into contact with anything you hear loud swearing in the cabin.

Good morning. I’m looking at buying m y mum a 2010 es jazz

When I test drove the car and engaged reverse the sound came on is this standard and what is the pattern of usual noises I should hear. Is there any button or display or just a noise when reversing?

Thanks Again for reading

Recently I needed to access the reversing lights (to provide power and earth for a reversing camera) and I discovered that the reverse sensors were an aftermarket kit, presumably fitted by the original supplying main dealer for the first owner as the sensors are colour matched to the body paint.

The kit fitted is very similar to other aftermarket kits I have bought and fitted to previous cars. These have had a central control box and a separate "beeper" which can be mounted in a different location to the control box, but the  volume of the "beeper" (and sensivity) is adjusted at the main control box with a small screwdriver.

I found the control box lying in the well behind the rear 3/4 panel behind the rear lights.

I will see if I can post a copy of the instructions I have.

Great thanks for the feedback. So it is normal for the noise to appear when you engage reverse on auto box. Even when u aren’t near any obstacles.
Does it them make another intermittent noise when you approach obstacles as it your photos you sent.
Also would the noise when u engage reverse sound if you don’t have read parking sensors.

With the reverse sensors I have there is a single "beep" when engaging reverse gear then there is no sound until the system senses a something within the range. There is then a slow "beep, beep, beep" which becomes quicker as you come closer until it becomes a continuous tone once it is within a set range.
