12p changed my life. Its nearly half a crown in old money , a favourite gift from visiting aunties.    I spent it on too many bags of chips.    2 shillings would have been a healthier option as it bought one less bag of chips.  But florins went to gas meters, not small tubby boys.

I remember aswering a job advert and it said " salary no problem " like you I thought I'm going to be a bit richer.
They offered me about ｣2 a week more than I was getting.
I said your advert says salary no problem and they said
