The RING inflator i bought is useless.  It only works for a few seconds before cutting out or will not operate at all - despite setting it far above intended pressure (a review mentioned this as a problem.)  It will be returned and I'll wait for the Manwe when it's available.

Thought I might get one as twice in the last three years I have used a garage pump which has refused to disconnect from the valve and wrecked it in the process.

That happened to me last month for the first time. I had to put the spacesaver on as it was leaking so much air. Luckily I had the car booked in for the next day to have a different tyre replaced.

Yep, who knows whether there garage airlines are ever maintained, but they are manhandled by many people every day. I am never going to use one again unless I absolutely have to. However, all the battery ones look trash so I am sticking with my trusty foot pump and cheapo 12v pump combination. The first kept at home and the second kept in the car.

I posted this in another thread on this subject, but I'll add details here just in case it is useful for someone.
I use Makita 18V power tools so have batteries/chargers.
I use a Makita cordless tyre pump, DMP180 as https://makitauk.com/product/dmp180z  (note the "Z" refers to bare unit, no battery etc). It is a "proper" piece of kit, a trade spec power tool not a cheap and cheerful occasional item. I now use it for all tyre pumping except actually changing a tyre and needing to seat it on the rim, that's the only time my mains compressor comes out.
If you use Makita stuff, or are interested in other tools (they do a very wide range of stuff now, even cordless coffee makers!) it's worth considering, I can recommend the cordless vacuum cleaners. As a stand-alone tool it works out very expensive, but a good tool none the less, £50 for the bare compressor but add battery and charger ......
Tools come either as bare units or with kit such as cases, chargers, choices of battery size and  number etc. Shop around ...... but beware of fakes. I've had stuff from https://www.ffx.co.uk/ , https://www.lawson-his.co.uk/ , https://www.howetools.co.uk/ , plenty of others to view and compare. FFX often have discounts through their ebay shop, but check pricing as it gets "adjusted".
Just for info .......

Even  expensive top quality gauges  and well maintained forecourt airlines  are not always  100% accurate. And travelling to a forecourt can heat tyres by an unpredictable amount.  Cheap gauges and those typically fitted to foot and electric pumps are even less likely to be accurate.

Best you can hope for is being in the right ball park on pressure , and consistency between left and right.

For consistency it best to always use the same gauge ,ie your own, even if its accuracy is debatable.

With a new gauge I always compare its accuracy  with a few other  gauges, even if this means special visits to some  forecourt airlines .(But remember the tyre will have warmed up  so take a reading with both gauges at the same time )

Once, on an otherwise quite decent pump, I found it read 2 psi low, so compensated by always inflating to a  gauge reading 2 psi higher than the actual target.   Not ideal.

I can't remember what I paid but I don't think it was that much.

Must check later.

I'm quite happy with mine but at that price that brings the above Makita into the frame.

Scrap that Makita statement :

Unit ~ £45 - DMP180Z
Battery ~ £100 - 632F15-1
Charger ~ £30 - DC18RC

Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

Amusingly the reviews for the current listing of the Manwe pump are for a "Milwaukee Impact Wrench".
