Does anyone owns a Citroen C4 picasso automatic
« on: December 15, 2021, 02:52:56 PM »
Hi all,
Complete non Honda related question. I'm thinking of selling my Jazz and get a small mpv as getting in n out of the car now is a bit of a task with my back and knee pains.

I have 3 different automatic models in my radar to Citroën c4 picasso, Seat Altea ( not XL), Toyota verso-S.
My favourite is toyota verso-s as its too a cvt gear box but zero availabilities in the 2nd hand UK market at present. Seat Altea is my 2nd favourite but only x4 cars available on auto trader and to 3 of them are over 400 miles away from Hertfordshire.

This now leaves me with C4 picasso but there are lot of negative Google reviews about it's semi automatic gear box. It looks like c4 picasso hasn't got a Fully automatic gear box in that model.

I recently went to test drive a c4 picasse and the gear changes between 1-3 is very sluggish and definitely not ideal on roundabouts.

Does anyone on here has a c4 picasso semi-automatic and how it has been with you? Or if you're  a mechanic what are your takings of them with your experience please? Tia!

What is your budget and acceptable age for a replacement?

Requirements-
Atleast 45mpg, MPV with higher seating position,  fully automatic and the budget is 5k.

Today I saw an Fiat 500XL car and it looks okay to me, but doesn't know how fiats are like.

Are FIAT automatics any good?

There are some dire automatic boxes out there.

If it says semi-automatic or automated manual then you MUST get a lengthy test drive. Test it yourself taking in a variety of scenarios.

Setting off from junctions, entering roundabouts, etc
Let's be careful out there !

Any French or Italian made automatic gear box is going to be great in reverse. Not sure they will have much experience in forward gears.

I am gong to apologise now for my dated, xenophobic, WWII referenced joke. I borrowed it from the 1970s. I shall send it back now.

I fully agree. Automated manual gear boxes are very far from a proper automatic transmission. I have test driven several of those, including C4 Picasso, and I haven't liked any of those. Only Smart had almost tolerable behaviour.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the MK4 Jazz Auto.

Drives like a proper auto and allows me to reverse park into the garage just on the brake pedal.
Let's be careful out there !
