Security
« on: April 12, 2021, 03:47:53 PM »
My age related back problems are making it difficult to get in and out of my Mk2 Jazz when it is in the garage, the car door cannot open fully. It looks like it will have to go back to being parked on the drive, which is where my insurance says it is parked anyway. Parking outside concerns me with regard to catalyst theft but I am not sure if a Mk2 is as prone to this as the Mk1 is.
Existing security includes automatic outside lighting which also puts a light on the garage to make look as though it is occupied, there is also a dummy CCTV camera. I am going to install an automatic floodlight as well.
Here's hoping.

Vic.

I got a couple of these for the garage as it backs out on to a tenfoot

Was dubious at first as usually solar powered lights are a bit underwhelming, but they are great. Bright and easy to put up. Just adds a bit more of a deterrent to potential rogues.

Sorry to hear of your bad back. No fun.

There has not been a Mk2 cat theft as far as I'm aware. The precautions you are taking sound very sensible.  Our MK2 has been parked on the drive, and so far, no trouble. The MK1 is the one they look for, that and Prius/Auris I believe.

Not sure these would be any use, but you never know, every little helps...
