Giving my Honda some love!

Today I gave my Honda a good clean. For a change I took some before and after photos.

Check out my wheels!  8)

Rear. What a difference!

I use Carplan wheel cleaner and leave it to soak for a couple of minutes. Scrub with a wheel brush, rub with a microfibre mitt and then rinse.  8)

The tyres shine is Euros cheapie TripleQX stuff. I buy 2 1/2 Litres when it's on sale for £3. Bargain.

I am not a fan of the plastic at the bottom of the windscreen. Looks faded and shabby. Gave it some treatment with Carplan Black Trim Wax. Looking good. Be interesting to see how long it lasts.

Looks great. I regularly use the black trim wax and find it lasts well. I use a paintbrush to put it on the front grill.

Thanks! I do clean the car quite often, but never bother to photo it. I had the time to do so yesterday for a change. Clean cars are always nicer to drive!  8)

I did a clean of under the bonnet and engine bay as it was looking sorry for itself. After doing so, had a doh! moment as I'd forgotten to photo the before and after!  :D

Thats a good idea to apply. I'll try that next time, thanks.  :D

The grille looks like new and hasn't faded at all, just the windscreen surround. Looks better now.

I hasten to say I do wash my car. Occasionally.

But I am afraid I don't give it the kind of love shown above.

Will I be jailed for car abuse?  :o

:D If you'd seen the state I used to keep cars in years ago. Washing cars wasn't something that interested me at all. I just drove them. I was a heavy smoker back then, so they were mobile ashtrays too. How times have changed.

For the last 20yrs I've had the luxury of a driveway and an outside tap. Makes life a lot easier. I now genuinely enjoy the process of cleaning my motors, its relaxing. I dont spend a lot on stuff, far too tight. Just some basic products, and they last for ages anyway.

Mrs W has got the Jazz for work duties for a couple of days, and there is rain forecast. It won't be clean for long!  :D

I've never been inclined to wash the car while I've lived here. The roads are filthy, and the fallout from the power station means a washed car doesn't even last a day. The power station has gone, but the roads are still a muddy mess in winter, and dusty in summer.

What limited efforts I have made are generally directed more at the underside, to prevent the car's demise.

I gave my car a little love today. I slapped some paint on the primed parts. I just washed the areas down with cellulose thinner, then brush painted the Vivid Blue Pearl on. It will need rubbed down and a second coat, but it is a vast improvement (I think). It will never hide the repair, but the car will never be sold (scrappy or past on) and no matter how good a job I do, I will always know what's there.

Looks alright, at least it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

If your car was nice and mucky like mine, you wouldn't notice it at all  ;D

Having a big black car, I can understand why. They look dirty the minute you've washed them! I've had 6 black cars, and have sworn never ever again!  :D

I've got friends and family that never bother to wash their motors, they think I'm crackers and wasting my time! I just get joy out of the process. Not bad exercise either.

@Jocko - That looks great for an '06 car. The paint hides the rust well, at least from a distance.

My bodywork repair skills are absolutely shocking. Stevie Wonder could do a better job. Painting is a proper skill. I don't have that skill !  :D

How do you manage to get your photos in the post rather than as an add on? Thanks.
