2017 Honda CR-V

The 2017 Honda CR-V has been revealed ahead of its US launch later this year.

Based on an all-new platform and sharing turbo-charged engines from the tenth generation Civic, the new CR-V is unlikely to arrive over here until at least well into next year. The new CR-V will also offer the 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine and will come in either front or four wheel drive.

The CR-V will now be assembled in Canada following the designation of Swindon as the global hub for Civic hatchback production.

And I've just heard from a friend in New Zealand that a 1.5 litre turbo engine will be one of the options there.

Maybe for a short time anyway ................ .  general conclusion would seem to be that small turbos don't work in real world on either mpg or emissions tests.  Also reading the diesel article in NY times it clearly points out that Euro tests were always less stringent,  and allowed more emissions from diesels,  whereas in the American tests the allowed emission levels were same for both petrol and diesel, and in Europe the price of diesel fuel was subsidised (and to make it worse a decision was taken to raise the tax on petrol,  which made the playing field even less level).  Just goes to show you can't trust politicians to handle stuff,  most of them are either lawyers or accountants
