We have just bought an 09 jazz 1.4 i-vtec.
The chassis number says that we have a GG6, but dont seem to find any info on the GG6..
I see there is a GG7..
Can anyone offer any advice please, so we can order replacement parts when needed?

Many thanks.

My recent purchase is a 2010 GG6 and when searching the internet for parts it is often listed as a Mk. 3.

As far as I am aware it is a UK market model and not an import, however looking at pictures of other (supposedly) identical ones for sale I have noted mine has a couple of subtle differences:

1) The reversing sensors on my car are not positioned all at the same level - the outer two are located higher up in the rear bumper by about 13cm. They appear original and are body coloured.

2) The steering wheel has a slight recess where your left hand rests - this is about hand size and only on the left side. It is on the face of the rim as you look at it.

Don't know the reason for these differences but having looked a a few other Jazzes I have not seen any the same.

The Mk2 Mk3 confusion arises because Honda sold a completely different car called a Jazz in the 1970's. Generally on this forum we don't count that so yours is a Mk2 but if you do count the 70s Jazz it's a Mk3. Simples.

As for whether you got an import if you go to the government's MOT checker site and enter your reg that should tell you.

Or is it? What do you think?

The problem is that part suppliers often do count the original Jazz as MK1,  that is where confusion happens.....
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

I have the same problem with Civics.

Forum posters often just post they have a FN1, FN2, FK2, FK3, etc.

Means nothing to me but if they post Civic 8G, 9G, 10G I know exactly what car they have.
Let's be careful out there !

Reversing sensors tend to be dealer fitted - hence height variations.

Some interesting replies.  Must say I hadn't considered reversing sensors being dealer installed.  Personally I prefer the way mine have been fitted with the outer ones being at a different height (for no particular logical reason) ;D

When we are out and about we play "spot the JAZZ" and it is interesting to note the differences.  Living in an urban area there is no shortage of JAZZs to see, particularly since the London expanded ULEZ came in.

Thanks for the replies regarding Mk2 / Mk3. Now makes sense.

Actually Jazz AA was in 80's. 1983-1986.

That risk of confusion is the reason why I prefer to refer unequivocal chassis codes instead of ambiguous generations (Mk'2). Besides you can easily confirm it from VIN.
