2012 plate Jazz USB connectors and iPhones
« on: February 13, 2020, 03:32:30 PM »
I have a crappy iPhone 5s that needs recharging regularly.
I have tried many times to locate the charging lead into the Jazz so-called USB socket.
Its low down in the car, too low to limbo down to, so I've been trying to pop the plug in by feel but without success.

Today I went to the dealer for an airbag recall and asked what the trick is.
The trick, apparently, is to buy a 6" cable connector, as the dashboard socket won't take a USB direct, there has to be an adapter lead.

What a great bit of design.

The Honda lead is £136 !!

So, on ebay, these leads are going for £3.50.

I don't want to play music, I just want to charge my phone.
Will this work?

Don't see why not.

OH has the genuine short lead and charges her phone on it, the ebay ones look the same but longer.

Next to that should be a cigarette lighter/power socket.

Get a bullet adapter and iPhone lead.

It will charge ok.

I have a bullet adaptor in my Power Socket and it runs my Satnav, Dashcam, GPS speedometer and charges the phone if required.

Good idea.
I think I have one with my TomTom, so can try.
Hadn't thought of that.

Meanwhile, in a fit of ebay enthusiasm, I have already ordered one of the Honda clones.

This socket might be severely power limited eg 1/2 an amp, in which case all it might do is keep the battery level the same, but for £3.50, it's worth a try  :)

Hi,
Your honda should have come with the correct lead, are you sure it's not hidden away in a cubbyhole, I moaned at the dealer when I bought my secondhand jazz and he gave me the lead. I have an old ipod permanently connected which works well,

To be honest, I never thought about the usb chargers, and I use them all the time  :-[

...and you can get them for less than a quid.

Well, my TomTom's bullet does, of course, fit and allows my iphone to charge.
I don't know how quickly.

Meanwhile the clone lead is on its way.
I'll leave a note here about how well it works.
Cheers folks.

it's a cheap clone lead I used in my Honda Jazz. Works well for both charging USB devices, as well as playing mp3 from a usb stick.

No need to worry - I have one, and it recharges quicker than its usage, even with full brightness and google maps directions on.  The bullet car charger USB sockets are far more potent than trying to charge via the Honda Jazz USB cable adaptor.  THAT is really horrid for recharging.
