Good question. I should know a bit more about my car beyond "honda Jazz 1st gen" really.

Gonna check the manual and find out which type I have exactly and respond to the poll

The 1.2dsi had 14 inch steel wheels and "balloon" profile  tyres which actually gave better ride comfort than the 1.4 Dsi wit 15 inch alloy wheel and low profile tyres,  the low profile tyres  gave less cushioning effect. The 1.2Dsi could not have air conditioning either new or as an option. The difference in engine cubic capacity was only about 50ccs, neither were true 1.2 or 1.4 litre cars, in reality they were both 1.3 litres. Air conditioning is an essential in a Jazz, I've never known any other car with a cabin which so readily trapped in heat on a warm day. I would be happy to have the 14 inch rims and balloon tyres fitted to my 1.4 in place of the 15 inch rims, such is the improvement in ride quality

The 1.2 was the S spec. That is what I have. All the others were 1.4. The S's only option was the height-adjustable driver's seat (which mine doesn't have  :( ).

At the run out of the 2002 - 2008 Jazz, the 2009 was in the dealers,  Honda had a sales campaign, the final batch of  1.2 was from memory £7600,  an absolute bargain for such an accomplished car, they  were snapped up in days, what was the the list price of a 1.4 Dsi in 2008 or 2009?

New to forum, come here as I've just bought a Jazz Sport 1.4. 100K on the clock with 12 months MOT and no advisories or fails on last two tests. Front bumper and back bumper corners have some "parking" scrapes from the previous owner of which there have only been 2 with a stamped service history all the way to 80,000 miles from a mixture of dealer and independent garages.

Bought her as a fixer upper as used to be well into messing about with cars until my young family came along but as they've got a bit older now I've got more time to devote back to my hobby.

Going to keep it tasteful though. Full wrap in either black or mugen yellow. Lowered, probably on springs with new shockers as struggling to find a coilover kit. Refurb the OEM alloys, love the look of them but they have a few kerbing issues, colour dependent on colour of wrap, if black painting the wheels white, if yellow painting the wheels black. New android car stereo system. New exhaust system and air filter system and finally replace the roof fabric inside to a darker colour and the various door card and carpet fabrics to a darker colour.

Welcome. Ambitious plans. Be careful with air filter change. There have been lots of owners on here who have done that and given themselves a load of problems.
Be prepared for possible gearbox issues. The shaft bearing, if it is going to go, will possibly start grumbling shortly. It won't fail, it just gets embarrassing.
Rust is a concern as well. My 2006 had no fails or advisories until it last December then it failed big time for rust. I couldn't afford to repair it (£1,100 for welding) but the guy who took it got it repaired and it is back on the road. I loved that wee car.
This US site has good info on modding the Jazz/Fit. https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/

Been watching a number of car shows on You Tube of late. The "Festival of the unexceptional" held near Peterborough was a joy. I know there are various definitions of when a car becomes a classic but many of these shows are bit more flexible now and 20 years seems to be a yardstick for many of them.

The early Mk1 Jazzes will soon qualify and there will be a good number of them in tip top condition as well. Certainly the Festival of The Unexceptional would be a good place for it to make its debut.

What I liked about this show (covered by Hubnut, I Drive A Classic and Furious Driving amongst others) is the sheer joy people get out of looking at ordinary cars that they may well have grown up with. There's a lovely bit in one video where people are ignoring a Ferrari but drooling over an old Escort.

Bit off topic - sorry.

Hi newb here , I have owned a Jazz gd1 1.4 idsi se for 4 years now . 93,000 miles on the clock 3rd owner from new . Great little motor can get all work tools in the back plus kids .
Last year I spent £800 on her new clutch, rear bearings and some welding near rear spring mounts . This February coming I hope not much needs doing as after the last bit of work it had a clean mot no advisories. I wonder if the I vetec is any quicker than the idsi? I've also seen a jmd version import same mileage no engine mods for sale in the UK in my home town of Gosport and they want £4000 for it .

I think the mk1 was also available as a 1.5 in the US, Canada and Japan. It should have around 110hp compared to 83hp for the i-dsi 1.4. Mind that the i-dsi has more low end torque and less high end power, the 1.5 is opposite.
