Honda Jazz Sport CVT 2018
« on: March 11, 2018, 05:05:49 PM »
Hi

Had my new Jazz Sport for five days, p/ex my Fiesta Ecoboost 100, had a Mazda 2 before the fiesta, both manual gears.

Well I'm still going through the bends at the same speed as the Fiesta so the I think the handling of the Jazz is petty good.

Performance wise the Honda is much faster then the Fiesta. Fuel consumption I,m expecting about same as the HRV at a real 44 mpg. It be interesting to see how things pan out over the next few months.

Its fun to drive and gives a few surprises to the other drivers on the road.

Welcome. Glad you are enjoying your new toy. Is this your first CVT? How do you find it?

Welcome from an ex-Jazz now HR-V owner. I would hope that the fuel consumption would be better than the HR-V as the Jazz has a bit less to get moving. Also, the Jazz is probably slightly more aerodynamic although I've not come across drag factors for either vehicle.

A big improvement over a manual around town, its so smooth at low speeds 25/30 mph. The Sport is faster off the line than the 1.3 but I'm finding it needs more initial throttle then I back off to get the revs down. Still learning how to best use a CVT box. Any advice would be welcome.

The honda Jazz is at least 120kg lighter than the HRV. Not sure how that and the drag would factor into the overall fuel consumption. Short trips of about 5 miles in town from cold show 43 mpg on the trip. On a longer run on Saturday of 15 miles, mixed town and dual carriageway 40/60 give 56 mpg on the trip. In the process of calibrating the trip and have topped off the tank and reset the milage to get an accurate mpg on the next refill.

Don't ignore the 'S' mode, it's very useful for overtaking, joining motorways and other roads and roundabouts. It makes the car more lively and more responsive.

I use 95, never tried super unleaded. Car goes very well and I'm getting 50 mpg on the trip computer now that the weather has warmed up with mixed driving on country lanes and town. Mostly short trips of 5/6 miles from cold.
