Crosstar issue
« on: June 08, 2021, 04:38:09 PM »
Had the engine malfunction light come on this morning. Took it to dealers and fault cleared on computer. Dealer did a five mile run and no issues. I then drove a few hundred yards and malfunction light on again. Back to dealers. Connected to laptop and issue shown as EGR valve stuck. (Car having covered 1,100 miles).
Apparently this is the third one they have had with the malfunction light on, but usually the reset cures issue.
Mine is now in the garage waiting for a new EGR valve from Honda UK. Luckily I have a loan car

Interesting! I had a very brief flash of a malfunction message on my EX on Monday last week, just after it had showed a road departure warning.

Are we talking about a Mk 4 or a 2019 Mk 3 Sport, as per profile?

See you have updated your profile since my post.

Very strange, only 1000 miles. Did you notice any engine noise before malfunction light came out?

No engine noise. It was totally out of the blue. Driving normally then engine malfunction came up on display

Sorry to hear that..I guess that's why suggested to drive time to time on motorway driving conditions to reduce the risk  EGR valve stuck. I guess you do a lot of urban journeys...

Most journeys are dual carriageway at reasonable speed.
Apparently there is contamination in the cooling of the exhaust gasses but it is being investigated by Honda.

Even 100,000 miles of urban driving should not get the ERG as bad as that. Glad Honda are looking into it.
