I see two cases of the Philipines variant have reached the UK. .........
I think you're right, the new variants are likely to cause us grief for a long time to come. The longer the pandemic goes on across the world the more likely it is there will be new variants, and we know full well what the result can be from the "UK/Kent" variant (which is what is causing the 3rd wave on the Continent at the moment).

Many countries have even more distrust and suspicion of their governments than we do (often for good reason), and lack of trust is behind a lot of the reluctance to accept what they are being told. It's so difficult to build trust and so easy to wreck it. I think the suspensions are demonstrations of caution by the governments just to try to build some trust and confidence in the populations, it's basically an unfortunately necessary PR exercise. I suspect the suspensions will be lifted once a reasonable "consideration" period has passed, too soon and it will look like another fiddle. It costs lives, but stuff happens in the real world of politics. Screw up the lifting of the suspension and the governments lose all credibility.
All governments have made mistakes in the last year, we are beginning to find out just how big and expensive some of those mistakes have been. Unfortunately it's not a rehearsal.

Had my second dollop of Pfizer today. Even better organised than the first dose, and that's saying something. At least there was no snow this time. So far (6 hours on) and no side effects at all. Not even tender.

Had my first AZ back in Feb and a bit tired for next day and headache for a few hours - had second dose yesterday and absolutely nothing,  I think they injected me with saline by mistake.
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

OH's mum went quite deaf shortly after her first jab. They're still trying to figure out what's going on.

Mine was Pfizer which left the area of the jab feeling a little sore for a couple of days starting the day after the jab on both occasions.

This morning, the same as last time, the muscle the injection was put into was a little stiff (not really sore). However, by the time I was up and dressed, all was fine.

Any concentration?

I was going to make a joke about Sodium. But I thought Na, no one will get it.  :D :D :D

I shouldn't have bothered either.

Had my 2nd jab at 2pm today,

So far same as the 1st,no soreness, no swelling or redness.

Feeling great,

Feeling very brave and celebrating with a bottle of red.

Wise choice and well deserved! I think I'll do the same when I get jab no2.  :D

First Astra- Zeneca jab a few weeks ago had to queue right around the surgery car park. Waited about 30 mins. Second jab last Saturday no waiting, in and out in 2 mins.
No after effects at all. Wife had her 2nd jab yesterday. All fine except slightly sore arm.
Gonna go clubbin’ now (not!)

I had my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine in early May, the second dose is due in late July. Straight in and back out again after the 15 min post-jab waiting period. I felt a little light-headed a few days later, nothing severe.
