Honda Jazz Mk2 2008-2015 / Re: More Power!
« Last post by Marco1979 on Today at 01:06:05 PM »
I owned a Mk3 1.5 sport CVT and now an Mk4. The Mk4 is much more refined, quicker except for top speed and feels more responsive and faster. Acceleration tests on Youtube even manage 0-100kmph in 8.2 to 9.0 seconds, faster than stated by Honda.

The most difference is noticed below say 20 mph; cvt struggles off the mark while the electric motor just takes off!

e, .And also  I would be reluctant to give someone else  in need  a jump start with such a small 12v battery in the mk4.  It could leave us both stranded.   But i would try to help with the power bank.

I think its important to highlight the fact that the 12v battery on a MK4 Jazz is designed ONLY to power all the ancillary equipment/devices on the car. It is NOT designed to start the IC engine, which is started by the HV battery.

I think this is completely wrong, the engine is started via the standard 12v battery in the engine bay, possibly the HV battery restarts it when moving from EV mode.

If it didn't start the ICE why do Honda cars of this type have sections on jump starting in the manuals?

Nah, just get a Mk4, they go like hell, compared with the previous models  :o :o

The Mk3 1.5 sport is quicker to 60mph and a higher top speed than the Mk4.

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: service plan etc.

I got my 5 year plan free by taking out the minimal finance then paying it off asap. The paperwork didnt arrive for 3 months, the excuse being 'we only process them in batches.'   Until then I was in some doubt that the cunning finance plan, which seemed too good to be true, had actually worked

It did include Honda assistance and recovery  - subject to complying with the Honda servicing plan.   Including european recovery  although I noticed the the wording for this was a bit more  vague.  It didnt quite  say "european recovery, if we decide to allow it"   , but it was heading that way.  Its typical of  a scheme administered by an independent provider.  Like insurance companies they will try to find as many loopholes as possible to avoid paying.

As far as I know your call is received by an AA call  centre who arrange attendance, ,if necessary by their european partners.   Hopefully I have a "who you gonna call' number that will get  actual attendance  . If it later comes down to a fight about who pays, due to a technical loophole   then its game on !   In many countries Motorway breakdowns can only be attended by  the official   contractor anyway.  You have to pay them upfront for the motorway attendance/recovery, then hopefully claim this back from your own  scheme.

Interesting that Honda servicing can include free breakdown cover.   This mitigates the high cost of Honda servicing  if it saves you the cost of independent  cover.   But I'd probaby buy a new car at 5 years anyway.

You should have been sent the paperwork, albeit 3 or 4 months after purchase, detailing the 5 year info

Mine also functions as a torch, and act as a normal 5v usb power bank / charger  for phones, cameras, sat navs, dash cams etc.   independent of a constant drain on the cars 12v battery  or needing mains power for a charger.      But two  main reasons prompted me to buy.

I like to be self sufficient and not having to rely on finding someone willing to give me a jump start, or waiting who knows how long  for a recovery vehicle, .And also  I would be reluctant to give someone else  in need  a jump start with such a small 12v battery in the mk4.  It could leave us both stranded.   But i would try to help with the power bank.

I put in a tank of V-power from Shell and noticed a better performance. However many here would disagree. But try it after all it's only a tank of petrol.

Thank you so much for all your replies.
I decided to check the cars folder where I keep all invoices, mot's,servicing docs etc.. and found the "pre-delivery inspection" sheet from 2013 (4 years before we purchased it) and it does state the paint code as being YR578M
so I can now go ahead and purchase the touch up paint.
Thanks to all once again.👍
