There is a better and cheaper way of buying tyres these days .
You order and pay for them online and then get the company's local garage to fit them
Most of the major company's do this
They do, but in my experience, they're no cheaper than going directly to the cheapest local tyre fitters. After all, it's just adding another party making a profit from the deal. The very best fitted prices are usually around £12-£15 per tyre above trade price. After costs, that doesn't leave a vast amount of profit for the fitter, and he has to be paid no matter where the tyres come from.
I fit my own tyres primarily for the convenience, living in a rural area. If I lived in a town near a decent tyre fitters, I wouldn't bother, it's not really worth getting your hands mucky for a tenner or so.
