Honda Jazz Mk1 2002-2008 / Re: 2005 AC compressor terminal
« Last post by RichardA on July 06, 2025, 11:24:57 AM »Has the compressor actually seized or is not engaging electrically? On my 2007 Jazz it was the latter and was fixed by replacing the A/C relay.
On my car the A/C relay was the same type as used for the horn, so I swapped them around and the A/C worked and the horn didn't. So I ordered a new relay for about £20 from an online specialist.
(My Jazz was the Sport with the electronic climate control and not the manual A/C and I checked the manual before fiddling with anything).

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: Mk4 2021 Jazz Brake failure
« Last post by RichardA on July 06, 2025, 11:11:24 AM »I had a letter from Honda identifying my vehicle (HONDA JAZZ) and stating that there was a brake operating simulator fault and called this a ' product update', which posed NO safety implications whatsoever.
I received the letter just days before a very bad accident, caused by complete brake failure.
The car is a write off. Two Injuries, two damage vehicles and no warning whatsoever, This should have been a recall, DO NOT DRIVE - RECALL NOTICE.
I can't tell you how terrifying it is to be sitting in the drivers seat, helplessly standing on a unresponsive brake pedal as the car, seemingly with a trajectory of it's own, hurtles towards the rear of a very solid Bin Wagon!!
The Insurance paid out, but do not seem interested whatsoever in pursuing HONDA, who are the real culprits .
I have reported the incident to the DVSA, who are investigating. I know I am now in a very long queue for justice, but does anyone know of a JOINT CIVIL ACTION?
I have now bought a Yaris and seem to have got a better car entirely
Sorry to hear of your accident and I hope you are now OK.
Whilst the vast majority of reports of this problem appear when the car is first started after being parked up, it was only a matter of time before something happen when driving.

« Last post by RichardA on July 06, 2025, 11:04:16 AM »IIRC Citroen recently put an immediate DO NOT DRIVE recall on certain models due to a fatal crash in France (I think) where the airbag did not deploy. (A Takata airbag I think ) There may have been previous cases that were not fatal. Contrast this with the Takata recall that affected numerous makes of car in the 2000's. The recall had been in place for about 2 years before Toyota finally replaced the airbag on my 2007 Yaris. Had I been in danger for 2 years ? , or was my increased danger statistically acceptable to Toyota? , or by then were they just replacing them to improve PR and perhaps punish Takata. (so they wouldnt dare make faulty airbags again until at least 2025)
The airbag deployed but metal fragments from the airbag killed the driver, the exact same problem that led to recalls various makes almost a decade ago. PSA Peugeot-Citroen were told by Takata their vehicles were unaffected.

So I was lucky enough to get in on a one off group buy on the Filipino Honda group when I met them at JapFest, and they ordered a load of fibre glass lips for the GD and GE Jazz in one go, so the production cost and overall shipping was cheaper. Still cost around £200 by the time it got to my door though, but definitely much cheaper than the real deal or if I ordered it from the Philippines on my own.

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: speed limits in navigation
« Last post by Lord Voltermore on July 06, 2025, 09:48:45 AM »Yes .The new 'here' satnav does not show the speed limit on the main infotainment screen and cannot be set to show it.
The applicable speed limit is shown as a speed roundel ,on the drivers 'head up' display , (together with any other signs 'seen' by the sign recognition system. ) The Garmin also did this in addition to showing a speed on its main display . So at first sight the 'Here' offers less.
However , in my experience over the last 6 months the 'here' system is better than garmin in showing the correct speed on the headup display using its own inbuilt gps/mapping data. Even when there are no speed limit signs displayed, such as within an urban area.
The sign recognition system will sometimes pick up a slower speed limit roundel ,perhaps applying to a side road, that contradicts its own gps map data . The car will display this instead, and beep if you exceed it. It does seem a good idea to take your eyes from the road, look down and read what garmin thinks is correct. But its not . Even with the latest map updates I often found garmin was showing an outdated speed limit, contrary to clear signing.
If I think the 'here' has read an inapplicable speed limit sign, or got the speed limit wrong I will now look round at my surroundings for tangible evidence of what is correct, not just rely on what the satnav says.

« Last post by Kremmen on July 06, 2025, 07:58:32 AM »If the doors unlock with the remote then you may be lucky, but with some Honda models leaving the key in the ignition was a surefire way of wiping the key
It was an issue on 2006 to 2009 Civics but I 'think' Honda did make some changes from 2009

The procedure is quite similar I had to use on my Peugeot for getting the central locking to work properly. But then I had written orders printed out from manufacturer's service bulletin. I'd like to see Honda's bulletin for this.

« Last post by Gary Clark on July 05, 2025, 07:04:41 PM »Thank-you both for your replies.
I did notice all those "potential" door lock fuses. I had convinced myself that they would never have a circuit for locking and another for unlocking, but anything is possible of course. I will look into this further when I fancy getting on my back in the foot well to investigate those hard to see and hard to get at fuses!
The keys were in the ignition when the leads were connected. Is this a problem? Think that's how I've always jump started cars, vans trucks etc.

My niece has borrowed the car for a few days, but I'll let you know how the battery trick goes when I get it back.

You haven't got much to lose apart from a big bill from Honda, so why not disconnect the new battery, leave it off for 30 mins then reconnect. ( Drivers window down and keys OUT of ignition while you disconnect and reconnect battery. This quite often fixes a lot of weird electrical bugs on Hondas.
