Mk2 cat on Mk1

Hi all, I've had a bit of a nightmare with the Jazz I bought cheap. Long story short if I buy a Mk2 cat (smaller than mk1), get the pipe welded in the correct orientation, will it work OK?

why not just get a mk1 cat . very cheap now on ebay
