Title: Wind Screen Wipers
Post by: David_B on July 24, 2020, 03:37:04 PM
Hi guys, seems silly but I am a bit of a newb at working on my own car and haven't driven too long. I am starting on basic things.

I am pretty sure my honda jazz 1.4 manual needs a wind screen wiper change. The water isnt getting cleared away very well, and it makes a noise when wiping my windscreen. Is that the main method of telling when you need new wipers? Are there any other tell tale signs?

Second question, what type of blades do I need to buy for them? Are there different types of wind screen wiper blades and which type do I need for my jazz?

Finally how do I replace them and can I mess it up? Youtube videos and instructions etc will be much appreciated. Do I need any tools? Etc etc.

Many thanks

Wiperblades.co.uk.  good prices, great service and quick delivery, put your car details in and they will show you different makes that will fit car, get the Bosch aerotwin type   They have videos and instructions how to fit blades. The wiper arms have a hook on the end, You don't need tools except maybe a small flat screwdriver to press release tab if it is tight.

Don't get the 'Blades' type wipers, I had a set for Civic and the large one failed after 7 months ( the wiping edge detached from rest of blade at both ends = not clearing screen = MOT fail ).  Wiperblades give 12 month guarantee and were willing to replace the set like for like,  I was not going to risk it again so got my usual Bosch ones ( which have never let me down )..

And rear blade ( often ignored ).

Again get Bosch.

Worth adding. My drivers side wiper started performing poorly. I realised the hinge had seized, so the wiper was not pushing back down against the windscreen. With some lube and working the hinge back and forth I loosened it up. Wiper performance restored (for now).
