'New' car - classic mistake already :-(
« on: September 21, 2011, 04:08:23 PM »
Tried to start the car to drive off the garage forecourt - but it was already running  :-[

How embarrassing is that? Especially when I'd already read somewhere that others had made the same mistake!

It's SO-O-O quiet!  :o

Yes. I've been there.  :-[ You quickly learn to look at the tachometer to find out if the engine is running.

That's either a lot of miles or not very good MPG. Either way, if it significantly less than what you were paying before then it's good news.

That's the next thing to discover - fuel economy. We're off on a driving holiday around Northumberland for a week. It'll be interesting to see what the on-board computer and my calculator have to say about that  :)

Just remember that the engine switches from frugal mode to performance mode at something above 3,000 RPM (only 8 of the valves are open below this threshold).

But I would expect that the car computer will win in terms of MPG.

Expect the car to say about 4mpg more than real life!
