sat nav map went onto night mode.
« on: May 25, 2023, 07:49:49 AM »
Soon after I entered Austria the map went onto what appeared to be night mode. Almost impossible to read in daylight.
Fiddling with the display brightness settings made no difference.  I thought it might be the mechanism that dims the display  in tunnels, but this continued to function - the display went even darker  in tunnels!

And then about 20 km from Hungary  the problem became clear.  The  'Join  between Hungary maps and Austria maps  was clearly shown scrolling across the display as I travelled.  Just like dawn,or an eclipse,  daylight in Hungary, night time in Austria  (It was about midday )

I can only assume the Austria maps had a bug that set them at night mode during the day. I dont know if there is a way to override this, or would Austrian users have virtually useless maps   until the next update?

I'm sure can force day and night mode manually.

There's a 'Display Mode' icon along the bottom that should do it.

Let's be careful out there !

I know with my TomTom Go I can select constant Day mode.
