Bearing Buzz?
« on: June 13, 2023, 12:01:45 PM »
I've got a front nearside buzz/slight vibration at around 65mph, wheel bearing?

Not exactly at 65, starts to be noticed around 60 and is loudest (but not that loud) at 65 ish, then quietens off nearer 80.

Bearings will change tone when turning. I guess like mentioned, undertray or if it got rotor shields one of these. If you also talk vibration, resonance from one of the wheels.
Tyres are not uniform in density so might loose their balance by wear. Easy to check: Just do a front/rear swap and take a peek at the rotor shields (if got any) and undertray whilst there.

It might be a so-called cupped tyre. You can feel this: place your hand gently on either the inner or outer edge of each tyre and move your hand back and forth around it. It should feel smooth both ways; in case you feel a difference (like going back and forth across a grater (don’t try this, use your imagination :D)) you have cupped tyres.
In case your tyres are cupped: swap them from left to right (rotation in opposite direction) or replace them.

Another method to check it: drive 130 mph and you should also hear it but 1 octave higher in pitch :P.

Done the tyre swap, no difference, nothing loose underneath, I'll get the bearings changed.
