Title: EGR valve replacement - eye watering cost

Hi all
Been experiencing intermittent stalling and loss of power in the last few weeks, particularly when coming to a stop. The  stop-start system doesn't seem to operate properly. I then have to wait, restart the car and hope it doesn't happen again!
Honda garage have done a diagnostic and found no fault codes. They then test-replaced the EGR valve from another hybrid and tell me that is the cause.
Quote for a replacement .. an eye watering £881 ... reduced from £943.
They say that cleaning it isn't an effective solution (and they won't do it anyway) as the issue will just come back again.
Any thoughts / advice please.

Stop start does not work in winter as engine too cold..

Any semi com petent mechanic knows that.

Your garage appear ignorant ####s
