A new braking experience.

I was half way round a roundabout on the A43 when some fool forgot he had a trailer attached and pulled out in front of me. I'd been anticipating it (I always do) so was able to use the brakes and slow to a crawl. But when the trailer was nearly passed I put my foot down and was rewarded by alarms going off and the brakes coming on. In a queue it would saved me but in this case wasn't needed. The vehicle was moving off to the side and my way was clear.

So - points for effort but a bit too protective

At least you know it works, one day it may save your pretty plastic front end and no claims record. 

If you find it too protective you could change its range setting from its default "normal" to "far" I have no idea what difference it makes.

EDIT-

On second thoughts the "far" settings may alarm for things further away,  maybe "near" would reduce alarms.

Adjusting the settings just changes the "forward collision warning" but not the "city brake active system"
The "forward collision warning" and the "city brake active system" appear to be to separate systems.
The city brake can only be turned off until ,like other systems , the next restart
I'm taking my car in for service tomorrow and I want these systems checked if possible

Nearly what happened to me but in my case it was a white van which crossed my path.

I mentioned a similar situation in the Complainers thread (page 2), my FCW triggered when I passed a parked car.

I just had a thought. What would happen if you are in a car wash with the engine running. Just a silly thought!!!!

I can get into, and out of, my garage with only the proximity alarm sounding. At least that has an off switch. :-)

The auto lights come on as well, and turn themselves off!

I think I read somewhere that with automatic garage doors you cant start moving  until the door is completely open otherwise the brakes go on

I have a remote controlled, powered garage door. I am not going to test the system against it!

I think that you don't pull away when the road ahead is clear BUT you pull away when the CAR THINKS ITS CLEAR
