foam rubber creeping out from the base of the windscreen
« on: September 20, 2016, 02:12:04 PM »
Any ideas on this one?  Over a period of time a short length of what appears to be foam rubber is creeping out from the base of the windscreen between it and the dashboard in the centre. An exploded diagram of parts does not help just shows three pieces not where they go. I appreciate screens are bonded but is there any rubber seal involved. I have not prodded it in case it is important but logic tells me it isn't BUT one still thinks perhaps it is. Before I go to a windscreen specialist has any one had this serpent creeping out

That happened on my MK2. It seems to poke back in again quite easily and stay there for some months. Very odd!

It happened to my Jazz too, I also poked it back, with a long ruler. No problems since.

Same here! I just get a plastic spatula from the kitchen and push it back - it usually happens again a few months later.

Thank you all for your help on this. The car is still just under warranty and I didn't want to make a fool of myself. Just as an aside and why I asked about this is because I am the age where any problem can't just be dealt with in a normal way because the old grey cells are packing up.
Good old Windows while about to thank you, shut my computer down!!!! Often they come up with updates and rather than sit and wait I open up Club Jazz while it gets on with it, today, obviously Microsoft took exception to me not giving them 100% attention.
I do hate technology! But thanks for the reassurance over the foam rubber.

Same here, have poked it back and after a period of time decides to reveal itself. Looks like a soft sponge-like material. Was going to wait until I have to have a new screen as I already have a chip and slight crack in it.  Does anyone have a response from a dealership about it?
Thanks.

Me too, noticed it a while ago, but it hasn't annoyed me enough to provoke me in to doing anything about it yet ;D

Easy solution to your IT problems - switch to a Mac. Apple products don't need perpetual updates, rarely fall over and don't use their customers for product testing!!!  ;D  :o  ::)

Yes - I have the dreaded foam rubber thing. Both on this car and my previous Mk2. I just push it back in with a ruler or some such and gradually, over time, it re-appears.

A bit of sound deadening coming loose?
