Exhaust blowing
« on: April 16, 2023, 03:46:38 PM »

Anyone recently replaced their middle exhaust pipe? My 07 Jazz is blowing around the silencer box, middle pipe. Took it to my local kwik fit, for a quote, will give price tomorrow. Was looking at genuine honda exhausts, but are I will trading up to something newer in the near future.

I had a new middlebox/pipe fitted for an MOT in Dec 21. The garage charged me £146.42 which included my MOT. A genuine Honda centre section was  £235.66 plus fitting.

I'd go aftermarket on a 2007 car. A Honda original may last longer but do you really need it to last another 16 years? (quite possible  - my 2007 Yaris still had its original exhaust when I sold it last year)

I had the mid and end sections replaced 6 years ago with non honda parts. Will do again as I will replace jazz with a newer car next year.

the Honda OEM p[art is expensive and is easy to fit, the pattern parts have an oversize silencer which fouls the bodywork and needs work to be made to fit

I had mine replaced twice and on both occasions, they fitted in with no real issues. Just had to align them carefully. Certainly not £90 worth of issues.

Finally had exhaust replaced. Honda were too expensive, first went to kwikfit for a price, they wrongly diagnosed fault. Went to another exhaust centre. They replaced mid and end sections. Checked under car next day and they had  not attached exhaust to one of the  rubber hangers, took it back, now all correct. Cost £252.

Honda dealer was quoting just under £700, kwikfit was  £350. Got a 2 year warranty with it.

Our 2003 Yaris d4d is on its original exhaust.

I repaint every 4-5 years with VHT paint.

Exhausts normally rot from the inside out.

The original mid section on my 07 Jazz was replaced in 2016 with a pattern part. That lasted until 2020. Both rotted where the pipe meets the silencer.

The original end section ejected itself completely from the car last year.

The end box is easy bolt on fit and those pattern parts for £30 from Ebay are a safe bet,
If only the aftermarket  exhaust  makers would make an exact copy of the OEM Honda middle section of the correct circumference.
