Fussy Jazz Owners

How many over fussy Jazz Owners are out there ?
Do you line up your vents or set your cabin temperatures to an even number ?

Personally I always open the passenger door for my wife. She thinks I'm a gentleman but I don't want her to scratch the paintwork with her rings.  :D

It will be alright in the end, if it's not alright then it's not the end !

Guilty

Air vents and seats aligned.

When we had fag lighters the picture on top had to be the right way round.
Let's be careful out there !

That includes headrests  :)

Park with steering wheel centred.

Let's be careful out there !

I thought I was a bit obsessive but maybe not :)

I don't always align the vents but I do like to centre the steering wheel on parking.

My fussiness is around cleaning. I hate a dirty car.

Vents have to be level and wheels have to be straight.
Mind you, there is a good reason for the wheels being straight. Once I was parked on the RH side of the road in Gourock with the wheels pointing out. An American lady tourist clipped my tyre and the suspension and steering damage she caused was major. She paid to have it repaired (it was a hire car but she had already bumped it and didn't want to tell the hire company), but I think she got a shock as to how much the repair cost.

For me, function wins over aesthetics. So seats and headrests are positioned where the occupants need them. Vents are positioned where they need to be to do their jobs, typically towards faces for cooling in summer or towards windows to assist in demisting in winter. Steering always positioned towards the kerb because I live on a hill and runaways are not unknown (there was a spate of incidents a few years ago of kids breaking in and releasing handbrakes). Takes all sorts I guess.

Park with steering wheel centred.

Park with steering on full lock, so that I can pick the larger stones out of the tyre treads, with comb.

I’m not driving around carrying all that extra weight

Please tell me that I am not on my own!

Hadn't thought of the "full lock so I can get stones out" thing before.

It makes sense to do this from time to time.

Just checked. 2 stones, both on the rear wheels , how do you turn those onto full  lock  ? ;D  Intolerable. They were not spaced symmetrically   ???

TBH I dont usually bother,  a bit of 'spirited cornering' normally flexes the tread enough to dislodge them.  Hence none on the front tyres. But its worth checking from time to time.  A few times I have realised its not a stone but something metal puncturing the tyre    >:(

If you let the tyres wear down to the bare minimum tread depth that stops them from picking up stones. It is then advisable to park with the wheels straight ahead so no one sees the tyre depth.

Don’t let your “spirited cornering” get the better of you,( I know you won’t), or you will be able to check all
FOUR tyres, from a standing position!

I'm not too fussy with my Jazz, although cleaning is a bit of an obsession but when I entered my Mercedes into Concours d'Elegance competitions, I stopped with one wheel centre cap perfectly horizontal and the tyre valve at 12 O'clock, and then jacked up the other corners in turn to rotate each wheel to ensure the other wheels were also displayed like that.

On concours d' elegance  I've known folk who line up every screw  head slot symetrically.  (crosshead screws wouldnt be tolerated at all but maybe new fangled cars with such screws are now becoming classics.  ).   I wonder if anything ever fell off due to symetrical but loose screws

I think we all have a bit of OCD obsessiveness.   I am surprisingly intolerant of too many unwashed  plates etc building up around the sofa.  ;D

Not to do with cars but one of my hobbies in building and using modular synthesisers and these use a lot of 3.5 mm jacks with hex nuts. I can’t abide it when the jacks are not all aligned properly vertically, horizontally and with all the hex nuts with a flat edge on the top!
