Perhaps I’m what the article calls a “sophisticated” driver, but I prefer the term “defensive”! For the freeze to be maintained
So that means you've never been in a situation like, for example, joining a motorway or dual carriageway with heavy traffic on a somewhat short slip road and... you had to floor the accelerator?

And having just driven a round trip to suffolk this weekend with an average of 75mpg -that reflects A and B roads at modest speeds . If i set off from traffic lights by flooring the throttle the ICE spins to ‘ rev limit’ and the jazz zooms away nicely . Several engine speed steps occur as you progress beyond 70. I dont indulge in such sprints as i like to have the ICE running before giving it the beans . I know the tech lets the ICE engine go from off to max revs in a second or two but i feel thats extreme , least in my view . And in normal driving with tyre noise etc you cant be sure by sound if the car is in EV or direct drive especially if you enjoy spotify playing along .

Periodically it switched briefly to EV but I could not hear the difference because of road noise. Perhaps I’m what the article calls a “sophisticated” driver, but I prefer the term “defensive”!

The blue suits the car much better than the black.
I have decided that I don't like black cars.

Honda Jazz Mk3 2015-2020 / Re: Towing
« Last post by Marco1979 on March 10, 2026, 04:13:00 PM »In the Netherlands they sometimes check the weight of trailers (especially when the holidays start and people use their caravans). They do this by putting 2 scales in front of your trailer’s wheels and make you advance a bit. This means that the weight of the tongue as you call it is not measured as it is pushing on the car’s wheels.
That said: the difference between 450 and 500 is small and an increase in speed would make much more difference.

Honda Jazz Mk3 2015-2020 / Re: Help to get the correct battery please
« Last post by fatlad on March 10, 2026, 02:30:03 PM »Hi. My jazz needed a new battery so I went to Euro parts, filled in my reg and got the Bosch battery it suggested. All good - except the terminals on the new one are about 10mm whereas on the old battery they are around 15mm - so though it is the right size I can't tighten up the connectors enough. I am not really a car expert - I looked around on the Euro site and nothing that came up for my car looked like it would fit.
Can anyone please suggest what battery I should get that will actually fit?
Thanks in advance

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: latest MK4 Garmin map update
« Last post by Lord Voltermore on March 10, 2026, 10:34:17 AM »I'm not surprised Garmin continues update longer than expected. Even though Honda paid Garmin a cut price for the mapping deal.
Garmins own standalone products get map updates 4 times a year. . The Honda/Garmin deal only ever got updates once a year, if that. Garmin still have all the costs of keeping the maps updated for their own standalone customers . Allowing Honda customers to continue occasionally download a map they have updated anyway costs them little extra financially.
But if they suddenly pull map update support on Honda cars it would increase the number of owners who are already using cheaper and better alternatives via their phone etc. Inevitably reducing Garmins reputation and future share in the satnav market.

Honda Jazz Mk3 2015-2020 / Re: Towing
« Last post by Fitzharris on March 10, 2026, 10:19:36 AM »Hello again all,
According to Honda the max unbraked trailer weight is 450KG. Lately I've been towing 500KG (unbraked) all on flat ground and at lower speeds. The max speed in Ireland while towing is 85 Km. Tongue weight is about 10 %. I am easy and smooth on the controls, but I do not like being over limit. Trailer and tow experts here tell me I'm overthinking it. They say 500KG is still a small trailer load especially if the driver is cautious with speed and braking. Any input you have is appreciated. What do you think?
Kindest Regards,
Patrick

« Last post by ColinB on March 10, 2026, 07:45:08 AM »Just thinking aloud here, but I wonder if there’s a logical reason for the updates being free. There’s now a requirement for cars to have speed warnings (the bongs when you exceed the posted limit), and it seems likely that the satnav forms part of that system (otherwise how would the car know the limit where there are no signs, eg in urban 30mph areas?). So satnav might be essential to comply with the law. Charging for updates might be seen as blocking people from updating, and hence encouraging rule-breaking, and perhaps Honda don’t want to be seen to be doing that. Just musing though, I have no evidence or authoritative source.

Me too.
