Title: Jazz dealer service cost
Post by: chrisv on December 01, 2019, 04:23:58 PM
Hi,
Been here before, service and mot plus cvt fluid due early next year 🤔 car is a 2011 cvt with around 60,000 miles. Honda price online says £180 for a basic service, oil and filter plus a look round, small print says extra £75 for cvt. To me that's outrageous, how on earth can they justify that? 2 years ago the price was £140.time to leave Honda I think, it's a good car but the dealer prices are well over the top,
Chris

Buy the CVT oil online.

Go to a good local workshop. Get it done. They can still stamp the service book.
Should be just as good. But costs are more reasonable.

If you don't know a good local garage. Ask around. But they are likely to be busy. The good ones are.

I don't know why anyone with an older car uses a main dealer. A good independent do as good if not better work, for a fraction of the price.

My old mark 1 jazz  was serviced at quickfit, they also replaced the exhaust and cat. Both times they were cheap and did a good job, think I'll have to check them out,

Hi,
Depends on your local branch I suppose, I ordered my tyres at kwikfit on line and had them fitted at my local branch, definitely the cheapest,

Due to Brexit, everything seems to go up as an excuse. Changed a couple of Maxxis AP2 for my Jazz last week. Paid £72 for two 18 mths ago, now £85!

Yes use a reliable independent if I were you.

Tyres go up and down with the exchange rate, everything Chinese is priced in dollars. 18 months ago when brexit was looking less likely, GBP was $1.43, now it's $1.29.

And when  - if - Brexit is completed,, expect £1 = $1..

At east it will help our exports - if we have any industry left..

Despite what Boris says, Brexit will never be done. It will be a never-ending series of negotiations.

Somebody mentioned Kwik Fit. They are one of a number of fast service chains - many are tyre companies who diversified into routine servicing and so on.

But here's the thing - you can look in vain at Halfords, ATS, Kwik Fit et al but you won't find, on any of their service menus, a price for automatic transmission fluid change. Could they even do it?

I have had my automatic transmission fluid changed it Kwik Fit, twice, but it was a GM conventional hydraulic auto transmission.

They should be able to, the Honda CVT is fairly straightforward to service - it all depends what the people are like in your local branch. Some will be very good, conscientious mechanics with whom you can talk the job over, some will be incompetent.

As has been said many times before, go out of your way to find a good independent, and stick with them.

I totally agree but cannot find a Honda independent in my area.  My only option is to go to a general independent.

When I talk of Independent garages I mean what you term, a General Independent. There are very few independents that specialise in a particular marque. I can think of only two near here. A Volvo specialist and a BMW specialist. Both are enthusiasts that took there interest that bit further.

There's one in my area (Chester) - they're some staff from a local dealer that Honda (stupidly) canned a few years ago but chatting to them recently they said Hondas only make up a small part of their work now so in reality they're not much different to any other garage.

Don't know where your area is Roddy0000. A6 Autos just south of Stockport is pretty good. Not strictly a specialist but they're near a Honda main dealers and have developed quite a trade working on the older cars. Big fans of the Jazz.
