2004 honda jazz outside temperature sensor
« on: June 15, 2019, 10:44:26 AM »
Hi all, my car has a odd looking thing on the dash. It has 2-3 dashes and then a c. One would assume it's the outside sensor temperature but for some reason not working. Can anyone clarify this and if so where is it located to?

The sensor is mounted on the front bumper. There is Reset function  on the associated knob, explained on page 98 of the manual.

This indicator displays the outside
temperature in Centigrade.
The temperature sensor is located in
the front bumper. Therefore, the
temperature reading can be affected
by heat reflection from the road surface,
engine heat, and the exhaust
from surrounding traffic. This can
cause an incorrect temperature reading
when your speed is under
30 km/h (19 mph).
When you start your trip, the sensor
is not fully acclimatized, therefore it
may take several minutes until the
proper temperature is displayed.
If the outside temperature is
incorrectly displayed, you can adjust
it up to 3°C warmer or cooler.
NOTE: The temperature must be
stabilized before doing this
procedure.
Press the Select/Reset knob for 10
seconds. The following sequence will
appear for one second each: 0, 1, 2, 3,
-3, -2, -1, 0.
When it reaches the desired value,
release the Select/Reset knob. You
should see the new outside
temperature displayed.
In certain weather conditions,
temperature readings near freezing
0°C could mean that ice is forming
on the road surface.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I came here with the exact same query! Collective wisdom etc etc!!

I'm trying to locate the sensor but just can't see it - does anyone have a photo showing exact location?

Sorry for basic question!

I need to know ASAP as car being scrapped tonight (someone went into me and wrote it off. Gutted) and I want to get the sensor to replace a faulty one on my new Jazz

Thanks

It is mounted on the back of the front bumper cross member.

Sorry

Just spent 10 mins and can't see it

Couple of small black boxes not much bigger than a connector on top metal rail near rad both with wires in and out

They don't look like sensors though(?)

Help!

Sorry, the Haynes manual doesn't help. What a surprise.

One of your small black boxes could be it though.

Thanks

Can't seem to find an image of it in-situ

Think it only has a 2-wire connector, not wires at both ends as the boxes I've seen do

There is a photo on page 3-16 of the Haynes manual but I am unable to scan it at present.

It appears to be between the  cross member and the radiator. A cylinder on the end of a piece of wire.
Can you find the faulty one on the new Jazz?
