Title: Changed my 21 plate Crosstar for 72 plate Crosstar
Post by: NoelM on October 02, 2022, 11:54:19 AM
Picked up new Crosstar yesterday 72 plate. Changed from crystal red to grey.
Must say there are differences in the latest model.
Infotainment system is far quicker than previous car. And a lot easier to set up.
Car is a lot quieter than previous also with less noise when accelerating.
Seat adjustment handles shape has changed.
Drivers seat foam is now shaped where plastic frame on side of seat touches preventing rubbing of material.
Leather steering wheel material seems to have changed. As a guess it’s probably faux leather.
Car also feels quicker even in eco mode.
RDMS and LKAS do not seem so intrusive but I most always have them off anyway.
Only owners handbook and wheel nuts in glove box as servicing is recorded electronically as others have said previously.

From almost new to brand new, from red to grey. Wishing you a lot of pleasant, but above all safe miles! (https://emojipedia-us.s3.dualstack.us-west-1.amazonaws.com/thumbs/120/sony/336/thumbs-up_1f44d.png)

Really? These two things sound like a real technical update! However, I haven't heard anything about more/better sound deadening material and powertrain changes.
All technical data is still identical to the models from 2 years ago, right?

Got a photo of the redesigned seat side ?

I didn't think the Crosstar had the problem of splitting vinyl.

I have a 2021 Crosstar. You comment your new car is quieter so I was wondering what tyres Honda are now fitting? Maybe there is no change. Dunlop Enasave on my car.

It doesn’t as it’s not vinyl. Comment really was to say that the foam is better shaped

I seem to recall some speculation that Honda might supress the engine a bit  for the first 1000km /600 miles to aid 'running in' .  Or was this theory discounted as nonsense?  Possibly it just loosens up  and revs more freely by this mileage when the car automatically tops up the HV battery,  or the driver  subconsciously makes more use of revs at the noisier end of the scale.

I think I noticed my car was slightly noisier by this mileage,  but it might just my imagination  as I was expecting some change.   I didnt notice any noticeable  improvement in performance and thought  if  Honda  had  deliberately supressed the engine to protect it for 1000 km , why not just leave it at those settings all the time.

Is it possible the apparent improvement in performance is  in reality  because  you are getting about the same  performance more quietly using fewer engine revs ?

You can feel the difference in engine/drive train pickup. Also in mid throttle position
