There are a couple of things I would investigate further, but not sure how much information is available from a scan tool on a Jazz.

The amount of fuel that is injected into the engine is determined by the ECU calculating the mass of air that is being pulled into the engine.

To do this, it uses the MAF sensor (Mass Air Flow Sensor) which actually works be measuring the VELOCITY of the air in the intake, then uses other data such as air temperature, inlet diameter, air pressure to calculate the MASS of air accordingly.

See if you can see data from the MAF sensor and the air temperature sensors as those are the first things to suspect .... also look around for splits in hoses etc that can allow unmetered air to enter the engine without passing by the MAF sensor.

You could try unplugging the MAF to see what happens. You would probably get an error code, but the ECU should revert to a default map if it senses that the MAF is no longer present. Also, try gently cleaning the MAF sensor with some electrical contact cleaner (that completely evaporates) and a cotton wool bud to remove any residue that might be coating it.

This is the primary method that the ECU uses to calculate injecttion times etc. The  O2 sensors take a while to warm up and get going, but when they do, the ECU looks at the data to determine how succesful it has been in producing the right mixture at the front end of the engine, and adjusts accordingly.

Hi,

thanks a lot for the reply. As far as I understand, the Jazz II doesn't have a MAF sensor but just a MAP sensor which the ECU uses to calculate the Mass Air Flow. I will again next week check the values of this with a diagnostic tool and see if they align with recommended values corresponding to different RPMs. Update since this post was made: we recently checked the fuel injectors and they seem to be spraying ok and don't seem broken in any way. We will also do the smoke test to check for any leaks in/before the intake manifold. Is it common for the MAP/MAF sensors to fail? There also isn't any hissing sound for vacuum leaks but I guess this isn't always the case right? The diagnostic tool doesn't show any errors since the Oxygen sensors were replaced; it runs rich but not super rich.

I think you will find that the ‘speed bongs’ are triggered by the Jazz front facing camera, not GPS.
I have a village local to me, normally subject to a 30mph limit.
However the residents raised a petition some time ago, seeking a reduction in the speed limit to 20mph.
In order to press the point, most their ‘dustbins’ (refuse collection bins) have had the number 20 painted on them.
Consequently, whenever I drive through the village on ‘dustbin’ day, the ‘bongs’ are triggered whenever I exceed 20mph. ;D
You're talking rubbish ;)

I also got the user manual updated once. It happened when my car was parked close to my home, so I was able to connect it to the home WiFi. I wish the Garmin map could be updated over WiFi, but I guess it's not possible. Only a USB drive can be used for map updates.

It doesn't have 'over the air' so must be either your phone or logged into your home wifi.

The car does have a sim card for emergency calls only in case of an accident

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / In-Car User Manual Update
« Last post by ninanina on Today at 06:35:32 PM »
Today when I started my Jazz the infotainment screen popped up a message banner saying something like “User Manual will be Updated”

I clicked on the message and it did the update; showed 1/5 etc.  I just let it run without driving off and it finished the update within a minute or two

Does the Jazz use my paired phone for the 4G/Wifi signal to do these updates or does it have ‘over the air’ built in?

Apologies but I’ve not read the user manual as I’ve, so far, found the Jazz user interface easy to use

« Last post by ninanina on Today at 06:06:50 PM »
Used the heated steering wheel today and it’s very toasty at the 10 to 2 position and cooler elsewhere

I don’t use it for very long as my hands are warmed up so quickly it’s really not necessary to keep it running

Also can’t believe how hot the heated seats become within no time at all;  it’s pure luxury  :D

By using both the heated wheel and seats I’ve found I can now turn the AUTO heating down a couple of degrees

I mentioned: “bongs for speeding” in my post which was incorrect. My Jazz is a ‘23 model year so I don’t have the mandatory bongs and just get the over speed indicator on the drivers display

I’m probably one of the few people that would actually prefer the ‘bong’ sound now found on the ‘24 model as I keep speeding in the Jazz  ::)

Honda Jazz Mk2 2008-2015 / 2010 Jazz
« Last post by Guy Bagnall on Today at 04:47:31 PM »
Hi - We have a 2010 Jazz (1.4 automatic LHD) we have had from new. I would like to find a highly-recommended independent specialist who knows the car well to go through it and suggest a sensible programme of replacements in order to future-proof what has been a splendid car for us as much as possible.

Location between the Chunnel and the London conurbation would be favourite, but travelling further afield is possible where the warmth of recommendation is strong enough?

It would be great to have recommendations based on personal experience if possible?

The car lives in France, so a similar recommendation there, anywhere near Paris, for example, would also be great.
